Pardon me boy....is that the Chattanooga Choo Choo?
Who would have ever thought that I'd be living in the exact spot which inspired that very song. Ironically enough trains are still a huge part of this area. You cross tracks no matter where you drive and you can bet your bottom bootie that you'll be stopped at a train crossing several times a week (or near my house several times a day!).

Nestled in the valley at the end of the Smokey Mountain chain, Chattanooga is truly a splendor to see. We have more varieties of trees than anywhere else in the States. We are blessed with four seasons which means rolling hills of colored leaves in the fall and "eggs frying on the sidewalk" HOT! in the summer. You can hike up the mountains, boat, water ski, and fish for bass on the Tennessee river, whitewater raft down the Ocoee River, camp at any number of state parks, ride on the old rails, ride down the alpine slide (No Longer Running....But it was GREAT FUN!), ride UP on the Incline Railway, Shop, Dine and Dance, Laugh, go to the theater, browse the art district, walk across the longest pedestrian bridge in the world, and ride a carousel with hand carved horses. We brag about our Tennessee Aquarium, 3D IMAX Theater, Children's Discovery Museum, the National Towing Museum, Rock City, Ruby Falls, Raccoon Mountain Caverns, the Southern Belle Riverboat, and a downtown that is safe enough to enjoy!

The air is clean, the trees are green, the wildlife is abundant, and the people are of all races and backgrounds. No matter where your "from" you'll feel at home in Chattanooga. Heck, I haven't met but a handful of natives in the three years I've lived here. EVERYONE'S a TRANSPLANT from somewhere else.
Maybe our motto should be ESCAPE TO THE CHOO CHOO! :0)
Pardon Me Boy....Why Don't You Come Visit the CHOO CHOO?!

Chattanooga is far enough from Atlanta, Nashville, Knoxville, and Birmingham to escape the craziness of big city life yet close enough to pop on down for a weekend. Chattanooga gets a fair share of "Big Names" that come in concert or for shows of some sort. We see Broadway Plays/Musicals, free concerts in the park all summer, and festivals all spring such as Riverbend and the River Roast. If you can't live without sports then you won't be disappointed with the Chattanooga Lookouts minor league baseball team, the Chattanooga MOCS mens and womens basketball teams, the UT Volunteers football team, of course the Tennessee Titans, AND Chattanooga is also the home of the U.S. Women's Olympic Rowing Team (they were here training for the 2000 Olympics)!!

The kids will tell you that we have the best outdoor playgrounds, lots of public pools, several outdoor fountains to play in, wide open spaces for kite flying, long trails for bike riding, the Kaleidescope Festival, free movies at the largest mall in the state, and even a Zoo!

OH, and for all you history buffs - you can't beat Chattanooga and the surrounding area for HISTORY!
We're full of it!

I personally don't think there is anyplace on earth better than Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Isn't it high time you came to visit?!
